These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and OWN SOUL LLC, a California limited liability company (“PdfYard”, “we”, “us”), about your use of the PdfYard website and services (the “Service”). By using the Service — with or without an account — you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy, Refund & Cancellation Policy, Referral Program Terms and Cookie Notice are part of these Terms.
1. What the Service is
PdfYard is an online toolkit for working with PDF and other documents: merging, splitting, converting, editing, signing, protecting and similar tasks. Two tools (“AI tools”, currently Translate and Summarise) use an artificial-intelligence service.
We may add, change or remove tools and features over time. We will not remove a feature you are paying for without telling you first.
2. Using the Service without an account
You can upload files, use every tool except the AI tools, and see a preview of the result without creating an account. Downloading a result requires an account with download access (see section 4). Visitors without an account have lower limits on file size, page count and the number of jobs per hour.
3. Accounts and eligibility
- You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live.
- Give us a real email address that you control, and confirm it with the code we send. One account per person; accounts for the same inbox are treated as one.
- Keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at support@pdfyard.com if you think someone else has used it.
- You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard.
4. Download access, subscriptions and day passes
Creating an account is free, but an account by itself does not include downloads. Download access comes from one of the following:
- Subscription — $4.99 per month. Downloads from every tool, including the AI tools (subject to a fair monthly allowance for AI use).
- Day pass — 24 hours of downloads from every tool except the AI tools, earned through the Referral Program or with an invite code. Day passes have no cash value.
- Free access granted by us — for example on an allowlist; covers every tool except the AI tools, for as long as we keep it in place.
Accounts that were given a free trial before 2026-10-29 keep that trial until it ends. We no longer offer free trials.
5. Subscription billing and automatic renewal
Your subscription renews automatically every month until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorise us (through our payment processor, Stripe) to charge $4.99 plus any applicable tax to your payment method at the start and then at the start of each monthly period.
- Cancel anytime, online. Use the “Cancel subscription” button on the Subscribe page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; you keep access until then and are not charged again.
- Price changes. We will email you at least 30 days before any price change takes effect. The new price applies from your next renewal after that date, and you can cancel before it does.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe may retry it. You keep access while it retries; if payment cannot be collected, the subscription ends.
- Refunds are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
- We send a confirmation email with these renewal terms and how to cancel when you subscribe.
6. Your files and content
You keep all rights in the files you upload and the results you create (“Your Content”). You give us a limited licence to store, copy, process and transmit Your Content only to provide the Service to you — for example, to run the tool you chose, show you a preview, and let you download the result. We do not use Your Content for any other purpose, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train artificial-intelligence models.
Automatic deletion. Uploaded files and results are deleted automatically, normally 2 hours after upload. Work that is waiting for you to get download access is kept up to 24 hours so you can still download it. We are not a storage service: keep your own copies of anything important.
You are responsible for Your Content and for having the right to upload and process it.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload or process anything illegal, or anything you do not have the right to use, including material that infringes someone else’s intellectual property or privacy;
- upload malware or files designed to harm our systems or other people;
- abuse the Service, try to get around limits, access controls or payment, or interfere with other users;
- reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the source code of the Service, except where the law expressly allows it;
- scrape, crawl or access the Service by automated means (bots, scripts) other than through features we provide for that purpose;
- create multiple accounts, use throwaway email addresses, or otherwise abuse the Referral Program;
- resell or provide the Service to third parties as your own service without our written permission.
We may remove content, refuse jobs, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
8. AI tools
The AI tools send the text of your document to our AI provider (Anthropic) to produce a translation or summary. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or misleading. Check it before relying on it, and do not use it as a substitute for professional advice (for example legal, medical or financial advice). You are responsible for how you use AI output.
9. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
We respect intellectual property. Files on PdfYard are private to the person who uploaded them and are deleted automatically, but if you believe material processed through the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@pdfyard.com that includes: your contact details; a description of the copyrighted work; a description of the material and where it is; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We may close the accounts of repeat infringers.
10. Our rights
The Service, including its software, design and brand, belongs to OWN SOUL LLC and its licensors. These Terms do not give you any rights in it other than to use the Service as described here. Some components are open-source software available under their own licences.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We work hard to keep the Service reliable and accurate, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every conversion will be perfect, or that files will never be lost before you download them.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OWN SOUL LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AND (B) US $50.
Some places do not allow these exclusions or limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
13. Indemnity
If you use the Service for business purposes, you agree to defend and indemnify OWN SOUL LLC against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content or your breach of these Terms. If you are a consumer, this section applies only to the extent permitted by the law where you live.
14. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account, or revoke day passes, if you break these Terms, if we must do so by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. If we close a paid account without cause, we will refund the unused part of your current period. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (for example 6, 11, 12, 13 and 15) continue to apply.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you have a problem, please contact us first at support@pdfyard.com; most issues are resolved quickly that way, and both you and we agree to try to resolve a dispute informally for at least 30 days before starting a court case.
Either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court. Otherwise, any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and both you and we consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living outside the United States, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and nothing in these Terms takes away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will tell you by email or in the Service at least 14 days before it takes effect (unless the change is required by law sooner), and we will ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. If you do not agree, you can stop using the Service and delete your account. The version and date at the top of this page show which version is current.
17. General
These Terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger or sale of the business. Translations are provided for convenience; the English version governs.
